CAMPUS MB026

A space for listening, discussion, and exchange – between stage, academia, and society

In May 2026, the Münchener Biennale invites students, lecturers, and practitioners to take part in the premiere festival from 12–16 May 2026, experiencing it together through workshops, performance visits, panel discussions, and collaborative working sessions.

Nearly 100 participants from different fields of music theatre – from composition and directing to mediation and outreach – will gather in Munich. Campus MB026 welcomes both early-career professionals and student groups from Berlin (UdK, HfM, and FU), the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna, the University of Music and Performing Arts Graz, Goethe University Frankfurt am Main, the University of Music and Theatre Munich, and the Basel Academy of Music.

In addition to attending performances, meeting artists, and engaging in various input sessions, collaborative working phases form a central component of the campus. The program addresses questions that are repeatedly discussed in both music mediation and contemporary music contexts, each time from new perspectives: What relevance to everyday life is attributed to contemporary music theatre? What relationship does it seek to establish with its various publics? How do artistic processes for composers and directing teams change when the audience is considered from the very beginning?

Campus participants will explore methods for documenting and archiving the concepts and ideas discussed and shared during the program, in order to make them accessible for their own future work and for continued collective reflection.

Concept and supervision: Prof. Dr. Christiane Plank-Baldauf, Univ.Prof.in Irena Müller-Brozović, PhD und Laura Nerbl.
