Bernhard Gander was born in Lienz in East Tyrol. After he studied at the State Conservatory of Tyrol and the University of Music and Performing Arts Graz, he studied and worked in Paris (Studio UPIC), and at the Institute for Computer Music and Sound Technology in Zurich. He received commissions for compositions from Klangforum Wien; Ensemble Modern; the festivals in Donaueschingen and Schwaz; and from musikprotokoll at steirischer herbst.
