Hans Thomalla, born in 1975 in Bonn, was a dramatic advisor at Stuttgarter Staatstheater after he finished his studies in Frankfurt am Main. He continued his studies afterwards with Brian Ferneyhough at Stanford (U.S.A.), where he graduated with a doctorate in musical arts. He has been teaching at Northwestern University in Chicago since 2007. His opera “Fremd” (“Unknown”) will celebrate its world premiere at the Staatstheater Stuttgart during the coming season.
